Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Biography

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony is an American rap group from Cleveland, Ohio. This group of five members are known for their quick- tongued rapping style and harmonizing vocals. The members of the group consist of vocalists. Layzie Bone, Krayzie Bone, Wish Bone, Bizzy Bone and Flesh-N-Bone. These five young men who make up the band, kept their birth names and dates a secret, instead they preferred to present themselves to the world with the common surname, Bone. The common name, “Bone” was adopted in the year 1992 in order to express their fraternity. Layzie Bone and Flesh-N-Bone are birth brothers, while wish Bone is their cousin brother, Bizzy Bone, a stepbrother and Krayzie is a friend and in the eyes of Bone standard of family, they consider each others as brothers.

The five of these members of the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, grew up together in Cleveland’s Northeast Side, one of the city’s poorest neighborhoods. All the five had tasted poverty life, first in their own homes and in their teen years they sold crack cocaine as a living. The group lived together and they use to share all their resources with one another. The group already had some experience rapping with each other. Soon, they all realized that they need to turn their hobby into a vocation. Hence, they started hunting for a producer. As usual, they started following various record companies, hoping to find someone who would listen to them.

The group started putting their entire focus towards their favorite rapper, the late Eric “Easy-E” Wright, Veteran of the legendary rap group N.W.A fame. He was the founder of Ruthless Records. The group was impressed with the music of N.W.A because they felt that the songs which were being played contained similar stories of their life. Hence, the group was determined to reach Eazy-E and thus together collected the money for one way bus tickets to loss Angeles. On November 23,1993, the group proceeded to Loss Angeles, with the aim of meeting and proving their talents to their favorite rapper, Eric “Easy-E”. They spent four months on living on the city streets, constantly trying to contact Eazy-E.

Finally, one day the group had Eazy-E himself on the phone. The group started displaying their talents on the phone, without any preparation or rehearsal. Each Bone member started rapping his piece of song and passing the phone to the next member. The group completed their audition over the phone receiving and unfulfilled promise from Eazy-E to call them back. Later, they learned that Easy-E was doing a show in Cleveland. Hence, the group collected money and took a charter bus back with the hope of having another chance, this time in person. They finally found him backstage and after their second audition was completed which took place in the dressing room, Eazy-E was convinced and finally decided to sign a contract to Ruthless Records label. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, finally landed with their mentor. They now decided to work more hard as they arrive on the rap scene.
