Signs and symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes
Because of inadequate insulin production, the sugar in the people with type 1 diabetes remains in the blood instead of moving into the cells. When the sugar level in the blood builds up, the body’s cells will face many problems like starving for nutrients and other systems in the body also suffer from lack of energy to do bodily functions properly.
Actually type 1 diabetes signs and symptoms are visible very quickly:
• Fatigue: If your cells have very poor sugar content, then you will get the fatigue and tired sensation. It is one of the common symptoms of type 1 diabetes.
• Dehydration (frequent urination): Due to more sugar level in the blood you can experience increased in urination which help to clear the sugar from the blood. If the kidneys lose more glucose content through the urine, it loses large quantity of water, causing dehydration. And this in turn increase you thirst so as a result the person with type 1 diabetes should drink more water.
• Extreme appetite: As you don’t make enough insulin to make the sugar to move into your cells, your organs and muscles become exhausted of energy. As a result it induces intense hunger which sometimes remains even after you eat.
• Weight loss: In spite of consuming more than usual to reduce your hunger, you may lose weight more rapidly. This happens because your muscle and fat stores may just shrink due to lack of energy.
• Blurred vision: If you have high blood sugar level, the fluid may be pulled out from your muscles and tissues, this also takes place in the lenses of your eyes. And in turn it may reduce your power to focus clearly.
• Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA): Without adequate insulin, the cells starve for energy and it results in breaks down of fat cells in the body. This fat breakdown produces large amount of acidic chemicals which are called as ketones and they can be used for energy. If the level of these ketones rises up in the blood, it will cause an increased acidity. As the liver keeps on releasing the sugar, it has been stored up to help out. And without insulin your body cannot use these sugars, so it piles into the blood. The combination of dehydration, high excess sugars, and acidity causes a condition known as ketoacidosis and is a life-threatening condition if it is not treated instantly.
• Cause damage: The high blood sugar levels may also damage on the small blood vessels in the eyes, on the nerves, kidneys, and heart.
