In simple way internet can be described as network of networks and a large network that interconnect such networks with each other is called as Internet Backbone. The use of internet is increasing rapidly now days. It is said that there will be more than 2 million internet users exist in less than coming 10 years.

Because of internet backbone it is possible to access data from home or office across the whole world. All the commercial, government, academic and other high capacity data like stock exchange across the world are accessed from single exit because of internet backbone only. All businesses around the globe are relaying on this backbone to store and interchange information with the end user. For business internet backbone is more effective marketing policy available. For a common person internet backbone made life very easy. There is no need to fill payment slip at bank, to stand in queue to pay bills, to go library and carry books.

As said earlier internet backbone is network of networks interconnected with each other where an ISP (Internet Service Provider) works as client. For example a city’s ISP provides services to his user using another company’s bandwidth with a backbone network. Here backbone network may be commercial, educational or owned by government. Every ISP has his own backbone network or has outsourced backbone to keep his service intact. In such cases a larger ISP works on an agreement for smaller ISP at a time.

More and more users are logging on internet every day as a result a more reliable and effective backbone need is increasing. Therefore the internet backbone is becoming stronger and stronger with the aspect of quality, economy and interconnectivity.
