Whats the Difference between Peanut Butter and Jam?
Both the jam and peanut butter are popular food items which are loved by all range of people. These two are best for their taste and texture. Even though these two foods have some similarities the differences between them are many.
Jam usually comes under fruit preservative category and it is usually made up of small pieces of fruits or fruit juice. Fleshy vegetables are also included to make jams but only in certain types of jam. Usually, jam is made up of fruits in such a way that the fruits are cut into small pieces, and then the fruit pieces are cooked, then finally crushed or mashed. To add more taste some sweeteners are used and it also contains preservatives depending on the quantity and the type of fruit used. Whereas peanut butter is prepared from ground peanuts which are dry roasted before preparation. The roasted peanuts are made into paste and then the paste is treated with hydrogenated vegetable oils, dextrose, sweeteners, and salt. You have both smooth and crunchy varieties in this peanut butter. It comes in organic or natural varieties too which has only the peanut paste and salt.
Basically there are many different varieties in jams. Uncooked and cooked jams are the two common varieties. The other jam varieties include irregular texture of fruits with the flesh and very small seeds. Peanut butter are also come in many varieties and they differ in the texture and ingredients used to make peanut butter. The crunchy varieties of peanut butter are very popular and it can go well with cookies and biscuits. In some varieties of peanut butter, the ingredients may vary, such as chocolate and jelly. Consuming peanut butter can bring many health benefits but there is no such evident for consuming jams. Jams contain very less fat and calories than peanut butter.
